Manufacturing Era:
Mainly manufactured Levi's 501s from the 1980s to the 1990s. Production seems to have continued after the 90s.
Location:
Believed to be the Lucky-Star-Industries, Inc. factory in Baldwin, Mississippi, USA.
Former Factory 16:
Factory 653 is said to be the successor to Factory 16. Factory 16 manufactured Levi's jeans in the 70s, and as it was an outsourced factory, there were sometimes irregular specifications in the 501s of that time.
Fabric Characteristics:
As it was a contract factory, it had the characteristic of accumulating older types of fabric compared to the directly managed factories where new fabrics were introduced. For this reason, many 501s from the 80s are said to have unique fading and textures.
Especially those manufactured from around 1982 to 1986 are highly regarded among enthusiasts for their strong individuality.
